Business - Websites win business
Many businesses in the UK have a web site and of these most are only used as a basic product or service brochure. However, web business is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. Many web enabled companies are achieving rapid growth and with 95% of the top 250 UK quoted companies having no presence on search engine searches, there is much room for smaller companies to do well.
For manufacturing to survive in the UK, many businesses have niche markets. As a result customers become scattered across a wider area, even global - this requires the use of the web as a global marketing tool. Who would have believed that the world expert in high temperature testing ovens is based in Retford, Nottinghamshire and with most of its sales overseas a high profile web site is essential. We worked with the company to develop the basic site and achieve good levels of relevant traffic, and we are still working to increase further the profile of the company.
But we have also worked with other businesses to improve the profile of their business locally. For many businesses such as driving schools, plumbers, electricians & shops, the web is like having an advert in the Yellow Pages, it provides a regular stream of business throughout the year without an enormous advertising spend.
However, in many respects, it can be better than Yellow Pages for a variety of reasons:

It can be used for all of your brochure materials and save the costs of printing.

It doesn't narrow the advertising down to a single business 'heading'. If you offer other services these can be marketed as well, maybe as an odd-job man you do plumbing, carpentry and gardening.

Design costs are one-off.

Expansion to web trading is readily achieved.
