## Tourist Association website experiences high traffic growth ##

November 2005

The Tourist Association website traffic continues to increase with 11,000 hits in the last month after only 5 months of operation. We have number 1 positions and first page listings on the three main search engines, MSN, Google and Yahoo with the accommodation page proving to be the most popular visited. We have had hits from as far as Canada & Australia , and direct queries for accommodation from Jersey for visitors coming in to Robin Hood Airport.

Content has been increased in the last month and now includes a number of pages on attractions including the Japanese Meditation Garden , Trent Bridge , Creswell Crags and Nottingham as well as Retford, the Continental Markets and others. A new section on walks has also been published with 4 local walks. A section for local cycle rides is underway and due for publication in the next month. The North Nottinghamshire Tourist Association exists to promote tourism within the area and is an independent organization run by members for members. We encourage people to join the organization. Members receive:

free membership of the ‘accommodation finder’ service through the web site
opportunity to meet with proprietors of other tourist businesses at regular meetings through the year, to share experiences and work together to promote tourism in the region
active interface with the Councilors, Tourism representatives and Experience Nottingham to have their views heard
feedback on tourism activities and initiatives in the area

The annual subscription is £20 and we welcome new members. I hope we will be able to welcome you to one of our meetings, but if not you are still able to join the association to receive publicity through our web site.

'Robin Hood Airport' brings new opportunities to

Retford and surrounding areas.

The opening of 'Robin Hood Airport' will bring huge opportunities to the Retford, Bawtry and Gainsborough centres with visitors from abroad expected to account for 15% of the passenger numbers, however, tickets are booked on the internet and there is a risk that visitors will simply pass by on their way to Nottingham, Lincoln or even London because of Retfords lack of a 'web presence'.

In an attempt to redress the balance, the Retford based Mutex Solutions Limited are offering to get as many businesses on-line as possible so that a a Retford 'portal' can be created, which we can then be promoted through various channels.
