Sorry
for the delay in getting the website up to date. We’ve had a rather long
summer break and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes preparing for a
busy Autumn season. It seems ages ago since the very well received concert in
Annesley and the weather affected concert at Nottingham Castle – remember the
rainy season we had instead of a summer? There will be some pictures from the
Castle Concert available in a little while.
Right
now though plans are being finalised for the Musical Extravaganza at Nottingham
Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 13th of October 2007, when the Police
Band will be joined by Nottinghamshire Police Pipe Band PLUS The Band of
The Royal Anglian Regiment (TA) PLUS Carlton Brass Band PLUS Carlton Male Voice
Choir PLUS the cast of the Gang Show!! This is our contribution to the Scout
Movement’s celebration of its centenary. Gary has stopped sleeping completely
now as final arrangements are being made! It promises to be a night to remember.
Watch
this space for a review of this concert, which will be one of the biggest
undertakings in the Band’s long history.
Charity
Concert at Kneesall Church for the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoy
Saturday
4th April 2007 saw the band return to Kneesal Church for a now annual
sell out concert in aid of the Nottingham Police Aid Convoy – a group of
people who take much needed aid to war torn parts of the world.
The
concert was our musical mix of styles and moods interspersed by witty anecdotes
supplied as always by MD Gary Glover!!
The
packed church – which doubles as a community centre – was updated on the
continuing work of the Police Aid Convoy, and informed about its latest
expedition.
The
musical extravaganza concluded with all the favourite music from the Last Night
of the Proms – accompanied by party – poppers going off and energetic flag
waving. The singing was enthusiastic and the distant roof was very nearly
raised. Encores were demanded and supplied. A thoroughly well entertained crowd
cheered the band to the rafters.
The
Band has been booked to appear again next year – it is always encouraging to
finish an engagement by being invited back. We are all looking forward to our
return.
